There's a fable about how to catch a racoon.
You get a shiny ball - put it in a cylinder that has spikes at the entrance.
The racoon comes along and sees the shiny ball, puts it's hand in and grabs the shiny ball.
And because there are spikes on the end of it there isn't enough soon for the racoon to get it's hand out while still holding onto the shiny ball.
The racoon could of course let go of the shiny ball and get it's hand out, but it is so focussed on getting the ball, then letting go isn't an option.
Ultimately, the racoon holds onto the ball until it is either caught, or it dies where it is.
Now when it comes to your main race of the year I think you should be as focussed as the racoon. You should be focussed fully on the shiny ball of your main race of the year.
Now things come up, your kids might be sick one day, you might have the garden to clean up before you go running, there can be a million things that can affect you getting out your run.
But if your main race for the year means something to you, and it should, then try and be a bit more racoon.
See you tomorrow, I won't have a racoon trap but can probably give a better visual demo.
Here is the session for tomorrow;

Hope to see you there.
