Its the last of the Babcock 10Ks this week.
I always think Helensburgh is the fastest course. Even though it has a little more climbing than the others I have always had quicker times there than the others.
I sometimes think when it comes to 10Ks (or any short races) that sometimes your fancy watch can hold you back - you look down at it and see the average pace starting with something and your immediate thought is that it is too quick.
And that's where the negative things start - I'll never be able to hold this pace. If you think that - you're probably right.
Your watch can be a good tool - I often look at it in the first half mile to make sure I'm not running a stupid pace. But after this you'll maybe find you run better without garmin glancing every few hundred yards.
If you try and be present in the moment you'll most likely feel you are running within yourself.
If you're 4 miles in and can still muster a couple of words to someone beside you then you're well in your range. If you're 1 mile in and you can only make questionable grunts - then maybe ease off slightly.
Try and save the grunting for the final sprint - or when you're back at home and telling your other half about your new PB you got.
Here's this weeks session;

Hope to see you there.
