Running is a tough old game.

There were some Run Rhaw runners racing this week at some Road marathons, and also at the Devil o the Highlands.

Some races go well, and some races not so much.

Running has given me the highest highs and also the lowest lows, but that's yet one of the other reasons I love it.

But it wasn't always like that. I remember the first time I decided to go out running - I managed about a mile before I had to stop and walk because my full body seemed to be screaming at me. It certainly wasn't enjoyable.

So if you're just starting out and you keep thinking if it is for you, and when will you start to enjoy it - here is what I think;

It doesn't feel amazing right away. It can feel awkward as your body is figuring it out, as well as your mind. Sometimes if I take a bit of time off it feels like I'm running with someone else's legs and they don'y seem to be doing what I want them to do.

But if you stick with it a little longer you'll start to notice some changes.

Your breathing will settle and feel different.

Your legs start to know what they are doing.

You suddenly realise you've run further than before and every step you are taking is a step into a new personal best.

It's not always about running fast - once you're a few runs in you'll be able to slow down a little and be able to still chat away - and you're at the right bit where you'll start to enjoy yourself.

Stick with it - your breakthrough time is coming.

As always this weeks session is for anyone - whatever your level, whatever the clouds. I hope to see you there.

A little bit of pace variation this week. the 3 min efforts around 10K pace, and the 1 minute efforts should be at a higher effort level.
