Its 10K SEASON!!
If there was only two 10K session I'd ever do - the number one would be last weeks one.
Number 2 would be this weeks one.
You need to vary your pace in training if you're looking to stay with a group during a race.
It's good to think that you run an average pace and clock off each mile at 6:30s, but in reality there is a lot of pace variation in those miles even if you manage it.
A slight hill, a turn, a slight decrease to grab a water in this heat. So even if you're planning on hitting an average of whatever a mile - you still need ot practice in training.
This week you should hit the longer efforts at 10K pace, and then hit the short one at a pace that feels unmanageable for much longer.
That way when you're sitting in a group during race day and someone makes a half a step gap on you at the water stop - your legs know what to do.
See you there.
